Politics Is My First Love, Acting Was A Means Of Survival - Foluke Daramola Reveals

Foluke Daramola-Salako has revealed that delving into acting was just a means of survival because politics has always been what she loves the most.

The actress, in an interview, spoke about her course of study at the university, and her role in the School union, all of which are pointing toward politics.

She said, "Acting was a means of survival for me, but politics is my first love. I studied International Law and Relations in school. I was also a director of socials with the student union at the time. I have always been politically inclined."

According to Daramola in a chat with Nollygistv last year, she has been in Bola Tinubu political structure for two decades, adding that her relationship with Tinubu is like that of a father and daughter.

Foluke and her husband are members of two different political parties, quizzed on whether their political differences place any pressure or burden on her, the actress explained that she and her husband have mutual respect for each other as it relates to opinion and feelings.

In her words, "The fact that my husband is a chieftain of the Labour Party does not change the fact that we are in a marriage and we respect each other’s opinion and feelings."

The 44-year-old filmmaker added that she would have opted out of her husband had tried to impose his opinion on her, a situation she described as abuse.

Daramola said, "If someone wants to lord their opinions over me, I would see it as a form of abuse. I can deal with infidelity in relationships and marriage, but I cannot deal with any form of abuse. If my husband had exhibited a domineering nature or I felt like I was in some sort of bondage, the relationship won’t work. But so far, he has been liberal, and it is working for us.”

Daramola who is an All Progressive Congress Member, however, assured her fans that she had no plan to put her acting career on hold.
